Underwater Museum: A Tribute to the Ocean

Wow!  Thinking Out Loud!  Here is a successful underwater and rocking social
media marketing strategy.

Coral Guardian, a non-profit dedicated to coral reef conservation, has developed this underwater museum in a secret spot in order to let the local biodiversity take its rights back. This video has a strong meaning, showing marine life beauty and how important it is to us.

There are so many that have given up or care about cleaning environments, taken actions, etc...  It is better to do small, local and create great impacts.

The Power of the Marketplace in Promoting Ocean Stewardship

The Power of the Marketplace in Promoting Ocean Stewardship

The deep ocean, the largest domain for life on earth, is also its least explored environment. Humans are now encroaching more vigorously than ever into the ocean's deep regions, exploiting the deep's resources and placing its wealth of vibrant habitats and natural services for the planet at risk.

Subject: Global #hack4good against climate change

Geeklist #hack4good is an international, multi-city hackathon movement that has taken the world by storm and set the bar for bringing together software engineers, hackers, ui/ux designers, product developers, founders, leaders, thinkers, and civic minded organizations together to “hack” together for social good.

This 12-14 September, over 3,000 developers will unite in venues in 40+ cities around the world and online to hack against climate change.

Collaborating intensively with leading NGOs, government and UN experts, scientists, businesses, teams will hack for 48 hours to build projects addressing challenges posed on three broad themes - Climate Awareness, Climate Adaptation and Climate Action.

We’re using technology to unite humanity towards a positive and sustainable future, and we'll be showcasing the most promising projects in New York alongside the UN Climate Summit.

With participants already signed up in over 100 cities around the world, we believe this is the world's biggest gathering of technology specialists, software developers and people who can build and launch products quickly that has ever come together to address climate change.

We’re looking for motivated volunteers who share our vision of combating climate change through technological solutions. Programming experience isn’t required to help out. There’s a lot of work to be done in the lead up to the event, and on the weekend itself, so we greatly appreciate any support you can give. Even if you are personally unable to help out, if you know someone else who might be interested, please pass on this message to them.

If you are interested, I would be happy to connect over the next couple days to talk about volunteering for this amazing event!

Disruption (trailer)

This is the story of our unique moment in history. We are living through an age of tipping points and rapid social and planetary change. We’re the first generation to feel the impacts of climate disruption, and the last generation that can do something about it. The film enlarges the issue beyond climate impacts and makes a compelling call for bold action that is strong enough to tip the balance to build a clean energy future.

Premieres on September 7 at http://watchdisruption.com.

Global annual fossil fuel carbon dioxide emissions through year 2007, in million metric tons of carbon, as reported by the Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center http://cdiac.esd.ornl.gov/home.html. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Climate change is caused by the carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted when fossil fuels like coal and oil are burned, saving energy is an important way to slow and even stop the build-up of CO2 in the atmosphere. Most people can save the most energy by reducing the amount of energy they use at home. Part 1 of this checklist identifies the first five of ten steps that will cut home energy use significantly. Part 2 will highlight five additional steps to save energy at home.

Here are a few tips for what you can do...

Caulk or weatherstrip windows and doors.

Heating accounts for the biggest chunk of most utility bills, so offers the most opportunities for money and energy savings. Caulking or applying weather stripping around leaky doors and windows will reduce heating needs as soon as they're applied. You can find weatherstripping and caulk at most hardware stores or online. Materials for the average twelve-window, two-door house could cost around $25. But savings in annual energy costs might amount to more than 10 percent of a home's yearly heating bill.
